As I have mentioned in previous posts, each Monday afternoon I run a group of sorts in which we watch a movie and discuss it’s themes and such at the end — this week we watched the move Tresspass. When the movie was over I turned to the group and asked if anyone found a general theme, to which one resident replied, “This ain’t no theme but damn, we need to find that girl and get her to Dr. W, the in-house psych, because if she doesn’t talk about what just happened to her she is going to have a terrible case of Post-Tramautic Stress Disorder that may debilitate her whole life!”
Oddly, instead of countering with the fact that this story was fiction, my response was, “Oh my gosh, I know! I was thinking the same thing, I hope she got help! Can you imagine what that would do to your psyche?”
Fortunately there was a voice of reason in the room; another resident who gently reminded me that perhaps before finding that poor fictitious girl, I go see Dr. W myself.
