face paint.

in the community room today one of my residents turned to me and stated, “some of us have been talking and we decided that we don’t like when you come to work without make-up on; we think you look too plain and like you don’t care about us.”  i laughed and asked her who “some of us” meant, when another one of my residents piped in with, “well, i for one agree — what are you afraid we’ll all fall madly in love with you if you fancy yourself up?  we already think you’re pretty, we just agreed that if you wore make-up it would mean you cared about how you present yourself to us.”  at this point, a third jumped in stating, “i’m with them, put on some make-up ma’am, please do us a favor.”
